Northline / Built into the edge. The challenge
Show how a home feels.
Make its spaces understandable.
Property websites often separate emotional imagery from practical information. This fictional brief brings them together: a restrained editorial introduction leads into a working residence explorer, with a sectional diagram and description for each elevation.
This is self-initiated concept work. It represents a website design and implementation, not a commissioned building or a property for sale.
Creative direction
Architectural scale.
Human pace.
Original dusk imagery establishes a consistent coastal setting. Monumental uppercase display type meets contrasting serif phrases. Compact annotations and numbered chapters provide structure. There is one primary interaction: exploring the residence through its three levels.
Display / editorial / utility
A heavy system display stack, Georgia accents and utility sans labels. Typography contrasts architectural mass with human detail.

Interaction & motion
Three levels.
One connected story.
Retreat, Horizon and Ground are native buttons in a sectional stack. Selecting a level shifts its slab and updates the description. Tab reaches each control; Enter or Space selects it. A desktop chapter rail tracks reading position without taking control of the scroll.
Native scroll drives hero depth and the section line. Level slabs shift over 550ms; descriptions transition over 380ms. The user-created eight-second film plays on request with pause control and no automatic loop. Reduced motion retains the still and disables positional motion.

Desktop → mobile
Recomposed.
Never just shrunk.
Desktop pairs the sectional stack with its description. Mobile places the stack above the description, keeps all three level buttons available, and replaces the chapter rail with anchor navigation.
Image focal points, heading sizes and spacing change across 390, 768, 1024, 1440 and 1920px. No essential information relies on hover.
Implementation
Enough technology.
Nothing ornamental.
Next.js, TypeScript and Motion, native buttons and responsive WebP imagery. The optional H.264 clip has its audio removed and loads only when requested. Native scrolling requires no 3D runtime.
